About me

Like many editors, I've had an interesting life. I've been everything from dishwasher to Canadian Consul, not necessarily in that order. I first became interested in editing more than 30 years ago while working as a typesetter; I just couldn't resist making corrections as I typed!

I studied at Lakehead and McMaster universities and received a BA in Anthropology. After obtaining a TESL certificate in 1984, I taught English as a Second Language for many years, including 4 years in Oaxaca, Mexico, and 5 years in Jeju, Korea. While living overseas, I edited materials for organizations, governments, businesses, and schools.

I was particularly attracted to academic editing, because I appreciated its concise style and because I learned something new from every manuscript I edited. Since going into business in 2003, I've edited several hundred journal articles, book chapters, and conference presentations, as well as numerous books, proposals, peer reviews, and other academic materials. I'm happy to be helping social science professors from all over the world advance their work and their careers.

In December 2009 I moved to beautiful Denman Island, on the west coast of Canada. In recent years I've also lived in Oregon, West Virginia, and Ontario.
